M1 Garand rifle ammunition belt in the transitional webbing pattern, green and tan.
During WW2 the American army changed the colour of their webbing from OD#3 (tan) to OD#7 (green) during the changeover of colours the factories had both colours of webbing in stock so for a time period in the war they used a mixture of both colours of webbing. These webbing items made from two colours of webbing are now called the "Transitional" pattern webbing.
Most of the transitional webbing that was made was the very first webbing to be made using the darker green colour so they would have been the first dark green webbing shipped to the front line. Because of this most original transitional webbing is now unusual to find as most of it was worn on the front line.
Length of belt adjusts from 31" to 49" (79cm to 124cm).
These transitional Garand ammunition belts are distinctive as they are made with dark green webbing except for the pouch flaps which are made with the lighter tan (OD#3) colour.
